Residents and other interested parties in the area between Randers and Hobro are invited to come and see how a vibration truck works. This will take place on Sunday 18 January from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Spentrup. Project Greenstore will offer a cup of coffee and a chat about the underground survey that is underway in the 500 km2 area between Randers and Hobro.
The event is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about the survey, which will take place in January and February. Over a period of approximately six weeks, specially built vibration trucks will drive around the area, one at a time, on planned routes from east to west. Every 40 metres, they will stop, lower a plate under the truck onto the ground and vibrate for 30-60 seconds. The truck will then slowly drive on to the next point.
Geophones will be laid out throughout the area to pick up the signals. Geophones are small receiver units that pick up and record signals from underground. A geophone will be placed every 20 metres in north-south lines at 160-metre intervals.
When the survey is complete, the geophones are collected and the data is processed and analysed by advanced computers, which will take several months. The result will be a detailed three-dimensional model of the many layers in the subsoil, down to a depth of 3,000 metres.
The survey will take place in January and February.
“Soon, people in the area will see a white vibration truck in their neighbourhood, and many have already seen us carrying out preparatory activities throughout the area. We look forward to meeting interested parties at our small event in Spentrup, where you will be able to see a vibration truck in action and talk to us about the project. It is important for us to meet the residents and give them an impression of how things will proceed when the seismic survey begins,” says Henrik Busk, exploration manager at Harbour Energy and responsible for the survey.
